Priority Alert #4: CMS Requirements of Participation

Nancy Leveille in Clinical & Quality

We have 11 days left to submit comments to CMS related to the proposed Requirements for Participation (ROP). Thus far we can see from AHCA’s website, 806 individuals/organizations have submitted comments and documented such on the AHCA site. Of the 806…only 11 have been from NYS. We are hoping that those numbers are higher based on Members potentially submitting directly to CMS. NYSHFA’s goal is to have 150 individuals/organizations discuss their concerns to CMS on any or all parts of the ROP by no later than September 14, 2015 at 4:00 p.m.

However, Mark Parkinson, President & CEO, AHCA is meeting with CMS related to the ROP on Tuesday, September 8. We are requesting members to submit as many comments as possible prior to September 8, 2015, to assist his discussion with CMS.

In addition, click on Len Russ’ podcast regarding the ROP.

NYSHFA held a second call with all our District Presidents today to continue to enlist their help in setting goals and follow up activities to assist you in your districts. As we have noted in past Alerts, this is your chance to make CMS aware of what issues you will have if these ROP go into effect in 2016. We hope you will voice your specific concerns, solutions and any potential unintended consequences. Thank you.
